Foggy and sour days prevail and as a result, there is much less sunshine. That’s why I’ve put together a list of ideas for winter self-care.

Treat yourself to a bath

Baths are a great alternative to calm your mood. Research indicates a huge number of benefits of taking a warm bath. One of them is that they reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, help improve blood circulation, relax muscles, reduce feelings of depression, help maintain a healthy heart, soothe irritated skin, burn calories and much more.

I hope she convinced you to remember more than once and prepare a bath for yourself. Also, if the preparation of the bath is not available at home, you can visit a spa or relaxation center.

Avoid social media

Because it is a time of cold and gloomy days, and we spend a lot of time in the warm. It’s worth considering how much you spend on social media right now. Instead, curl up in a blanket and watch an inspirational movie or listen to a motivational podcast. We know that social media can make you feel bad, so pay attention to how you feel and set healthy limits. It will benefit you.

Include a warm drink in your routine

Include a warm drink in your routine that will support your immune system. Let’s say you include in your morning routine: Any tea with ginger and turmeric, warm lemonade with honey and ginger. Or make small bottles of medicinal potion that you have prepared for every day – as a medical shot. We know that the changing weather in winter quickly confuses our body, so prevention and taking care of the body and well-being is very important to avoid getting sick.

Moisturize your skin

Winter is a dry season, but the skin loves moisture and nourishment. The dry air attacks the skin, which becomes cracked – dry and itchy, and the lips and hair also feel the impact. Prepare a homemade lotion, e.g. of coconut oil or simply buy appropriate creams and lotions to protect the skin and lips from a pharmacy/store. And hair oil/serum or conditioner to prevent flaky scalp and brittle hair. Incorporate skincare into your routine and nourish your skin to keep it glowing and soft.

Catch the sun

Whenever it is possible for the sun to appear, at least for a short time, take advantage of it quickly. Go for a short walk in nature or simply expose yourself to the sun’s rays. Vitamin D is also deficient in winter, so consider a supplement.

Make yourself tea, cocoa, hot chocolate

Are you one of those people when winter makes you want to prepare hot chocolate or hot cocoa? A great opportunity to pamper yourself.

Enjoy mulled wine

Are you a wine lover? The time around New Year’s Eve and Christmas always offers stands of excellent mulled wine (at least that’s the case in my area). Alternatively, you can prepare mulled wine at home, so you can warm yourself up and rock out to good music.

Decorate your home in a seasonal style

In this season, there are holidays like Christmas and New Year. Decorate your home in your own style. For example, you can decorate the windows with homemade snowflakes or artificial snow. Be creative or find some new ideas online.

Read a good book

Cold weather is a great time for a warm blanket, a drink and a good book. Go among the bookshelves in the library and read or simply buy a book. Develop your imagination and mindset with books.

Maintain an indoor garden

Since there are not many opportunities for outdoor gardening in winter, you can conjure up a garden right on the windowsill. Buy seeds or plant seedlings and plant and nurture them right on your windowsill. Of course, choose a plant that will be suitable for your position and the location of the window, preferably so that it is difficult to kill.

Bake cookies or cakes as desired

There is nothing better than the pleasant smell of freshly baked cookies in your home. Hone your baking skills, find a recipe and try something new and that will suit your taste. It doesn’t have to be cookies, you can make a dessert in a jar, muffins, cream slices or anything else.

Cook the soup

I really like cream soups, but in warm weather I mostly avoid them. But they come quickly as it gets colder and colder outside. If you like soups, prepare one for winter days and warm yourself up with it.

Write down new goals and progress

It’s a great season to make a list of your goals, while taking stock of all your accomplishments and progress so far. In addition, you can make plans for how you will achieve certain goals and motivational reminders that will constantly encourage you.

You can start keeping a gratitude journal, or journal for personal development, or simply try your hand at writing a poem/story. Use your creativity as a tool to release some of the emotions you feel stuck inside of you.

Watch seasonal movies

Festive Christmas and New Year films boldly stand out in winter. So make a list of movies you haven’t seen yet and take advantage of cold and holiday days to watch movies.

Make new music playlists

Change the ringtone and alarm clock. Make a new list of favorite songs, you can also add Christmas songs and create a cozy atmosphere.

Clean and organize your home

Tidying up is also a way of relaxation, well at least for me. Clean up and organize the rooms, throw away things you don’t need or on which dust collects. Make a new arrangement of furniture, paint the walls with new colors, put things in baskets, etc.
Organization and cleanliness evoke pleasant feelings in a person. You don’t have to push, but take your time and try to relax in this way.

Take advantage of the snow

If it snowed, go out into nature with your friends or loved ones. Create a snowman, play with snow ideas. Go skiing or try a new winter activity. Let’s say you make a homemade snow bag. We always used a large sack filled with straw. Finally tightly packed – tied with string. And it was a great downhill tool. A fun activity for children too.

Use humidifiers

As we know, the air is drier in winter, even heated rooms can leave behind dry air. Which is also not very good for our lungs. If you have air humidifiers at home, use them, add essential oils, or you can just make it at home.

Exercise

If movement in nature repels you, make a plan for exercise, yoga, pilates or something similar at home. And exercise your body right in your own home. Your body will definitely thank you, and they will also help you sleep better and have more energy.

Dry skin brushing

Do you have a simple brush at home? Use it on your skin. Personally, I didn’t know the benefits of dry brushing for a long time. One of the benefits is: it opens clogged pores, accelerates blood circulation, tightens the skin and restores its radiance, removes dead skin cells, frees the skin from toxins, helps eliminate cellulite, reduces stress and calms, strengthens the immune system, increases energy and much more.

Otherwise, you can use this advice in all seasons and not just in winter, something to pamper your body.

Make a birdhouse

Wintertime affects not only us humans, but also the animals outside. Making a birdhouse can be an idea for creativity and relaxation. In which you will later set the food for the birds, they will surely be very grateful to you. Hang it on a nearby tree or windowsill.

Get some rest

If you feel that you need extra rest, take a few minutes in the middle of the day without a bad conscience and rest your body. Create the atmosphere of a fireplace, if you don’t have one at home, arrange it via television – YouTube. Great for an afternoon break.

Practice mindfulness

Take a few minutes a day to practice mindfulness. Be present, observe your feelings, your thoughts and your senses, things you usually don’t pay attention to. Observe your reactions and what is happening deep within you. Mindfulness increases feelings of happiness and removes feelings of anxiety.
